Sailing efficiently with tailwinds

The Gennaker course is aimed at those people who already have a basic understanding of sailing and want to learn more about the use of sails in downwind conditions.

We will try to understand the operation of a mainsail at a generic level and to get the most out of the Gennaker in particular.

In the course you will learn

Nomenclature, new terms brought by the gennaker and its maneuver
Specific characteristics of the gennaker: very fine and delicate fabric to weigh little.
Hoisting the gennaker safely, avoiding friction and breakage.
Sailing with a gennaker in different directions.
Safely hoist the gennaker, preventing it from falling into the water and breaking.
Ideal course for hoisting and ideal course for lowering.

Requirements

– DNI, NIE or Passport, in force.
– Be of legal age.
– Young people aged 16, with parental authorization.

Recommendations

– The day of practice check the weather report and come in appropriate comfortable clothing.
– Don't forget sunscreen and a bottle of water.
- Be on time, if you've never been to Port Olímpic, we'll explain how to get there.
– If you are a group of 5 or more, call us and we will schedule a course for you on the date you prefer.

Important

This course does not accredit you to steer recreational boats.

To sail a boat as a skipper you must have an official qualification such as the PNB or the PER.
