Medical First Aid

Training in first aid and basic nursing techniques on board.

STCW Specialty Certificate approved by the Social Institute of the Navy (ISM) and endorsed by the International Maritime Organization (IMO) in compliance with the Training Code of the STCW-78/10 Convention.

Theory: 11 hours

In air-conditioned classrooms a few minutes from the center of Barcelona.
_{On certain dates the course is also taught in Girona.}

Practices: 11 hours

In the classroom and on board.

Validity: 5 years

The certificate must be revalidated, before it expires, by completing a refresher course.

Health resources for sailors.
Structure and functions of the human body.
Basic clinical history and examination of the patient.
Asphyxia and cardiac arrest.
Hemorrhages and shock.
Wounds.
Burns and frostbite.
Environmental disorders due to cold and heat.
Poisonings on board.
Sprains, dislocations and fractures.
Transport of the wounded.
Medical consultation by radio.

To request the issuance of the certificate of Medical First Aid you will have to submit the following documentation to the Maritime Administration of your autonomous community:
