PPER – Professional Skipper for Recreational Boats

Do you want to work as a professional skipper?
With the PPER you can sail at a distance of 60 or 150 nautical miles, with up to 12 people on board, plus the crew, in boats up to 24 m long with a Spanish flag and registered on list 6a or 7a.

PPER – Professional Skipper for Recreational Boats

If you are over 20 years old, at EscolaPort you can obtain your recreational nautical qualifications and the 3 required STCW certificates. In addition, we prepare you to pass the PPER exam called by the DGMM.

  • Have reached the age of 20.
  • Have the title of Yacht Captain.
  • Have the professional card and STCW certificates of proficiency:
    – GMDSS restricted operator.
    – Basic safety training.
    – Initial specific health training.
  • Submit a responsible navigation declaration.
  • Current ISM medical certificate.
  • Approve the DGMM exam.

Training required to obtain the PPER

The PPER exam will assess your knowledge of 19 topics, it consists of 30 multiple-choice questions and passing is achieved by answering 18 correctly.

To request the issuance of the certificate of PPER – Professional Skipper for Recreational Boats,
you must submit this documentation to the Maritime Administration of your autonomous community:

Original and copy of the title of Yacht Captain.

Course diploma

Originals and copies of the Basic Training, Healthcare Training and Restricted Operator diplomas.

Proof of payment of fees for Professional and Recreational Maritime Titles.

Responsible statement

Responsible statement having completed 50 days of navigation with 5 high-altitude navigations (more than 60 mn) and 2,500 miles of navigation.
