With your PER title, plus the STCW Basic Safety Training certificate, you will be able to provide paid services on ships up to 24 meters long.

If you already have your PER title – Recreational Boat Skipper, dedicate a couple of weeks to the Basic Safety Training course and start getting the most out of your boat.

PER with attached qualifications

PER Pro

The title of Recreational Boat Skipper with associated qualifications allows you to provide paid services as a skipper/boat skipper.

To be PER Pro you need the title PER issued with the maximum attributions (Balears + Sailing) and the STCW certificate Basic Safety Training.

You can take the PER within a period of fifteen days to a month, depending on your dedication, and the Basic Training course in two weeks.

As a PER PRO you will be able to professionally steer pleasure craft up to 24 meters in length (List 6a and 7a) within the waters of harbours, marinas, marinas and beaches, or up to a maximum of 5 miles from shore.

What will you be able to do as PER PRO?

Docking, anchoring or towing.
Transfer of boats between ports.
Seafaring work on boats in ports.
Government of rescue boats on beaches.
Transport of supplies to other vessels.
Sea trials with boats and jet skis.

How is the PER processed with additional qualifications?

The request addressed to the Director General of the Merchant Navy.
Photocopy of the recreation qualification issued by an autonomous community.
Pay the fees for form 790-028.
Certificate of basic security training, in force.

In Catalonia, calls for the Recreational Boat Skipper exam are held throughout the year.

Pleasure boat skipper course

You will learn the regulations, signage and how to navigate safely, among many other topics.

To obtain the basic qualification you must complete 16 hours of Safety and Navigation practices and radio operator training.

To obtain the attached qualifications, you must do complementary sailing and Balearic navigation practices.

Basic security training course

The certificate Basic Safety Training It is a mandatory requirement for all personnel who are going to work in the nautical/maritime sector, from small boats to large cruise ships or merchants, whether they are: officers, PPER, hostesses, waiters, mechanics, skippers...

To obtain the certificate, you must complete a face-to-face course, with mandatory attendance, consisting of four modules that establish the minimum standards of competence in: Personal survival techniques, First-level fire prevention and fighting, First aid and Personal safety and social responsibilities.

To obtain the complementary attributions of the PER title, you can carry out combined practices in Navigation in the Balearic Islands and sailing in a single 48-hour crossing.

Do you want to go further and with more passengers?

You need the professional certificate: PPER

The PER and Yacht Master Pro are the gateway to the professional world of the sea and you can get them in a very short time.
If you want more, in less than a year you can be PPER and sail 60 miles offshore with up to 12 passengers on board.

With the PPER you can sail at a distance of 60 or 150 nautical miles, with up to 12 people on board, plus the crew, in boats up to 24 m long with a Spanish flag and registered on list 6a or 7a.
