Navigation license

2 hours of theory to start sailing safely

In this 2-hour theory class you will learn the basic knowledge necessary to obtain the Navigation License.

Your instructor will explain the safety rules on board, the regulations, maritime signaling, navigation regulations and how to act in case of emergency.

Everything in a clear, practical and adapted way so that, even without previous experience, you can go sailing with confidence.

The theory class will be held in an air-conditioned classroom a few meters away from the practice boats.

4 hours of sailing practices in the Port Olímpic of Barcelona

The sailing practices have a duration of 4 hours and are carried out in approved boats, always with professional and qualified instructors.

During the session you will learn basic maneuvers, such as leaving and docking in the port, basic maneuvers, anchoring, use of safety equipment and how to act in real situations at sea.

You will practice on a semi-rigid boat that will be moored a few meters away from the classroom.

The practices begin with the group of students on board the boat.

The instructor will give a brief safety briefing and explain what and where the safety elements on board are and where they are located. Afterwards, you and your companions will take turns at the helm to practice different navigation maneuvers.

A useful, dynamic and fun experience that will prepare you to go sailing safely and independently.

During the NL course you will learn:

  • Preferences of passage between vessels.
  • Interpret the maritime beacons.
  • How to tie the most essential knots.

Nautical medical certificate

The nautical medical certificate is a mandatory requirement to issue the Navigation License.

You have to send it to the school by email, before or after the course, so we can process your NL.

It is very important that, when you send us the PDF or the photos of the certificate, you send us both sides, even if the back side is blank or without observations.

Certificat mèdic nàutic

Just as you need to pass a medical examination for a driver’s license, the same applies to nautical qualifications.

It is to evaluate the patient to determine if there is any limitation that prevents the use of a recreational boat. You will need it to process your license.

To obtain it you must go to a driver recognition center, where they issue the certificate for the car license.

If you live in Barcelona or nearby you can get it for only 39 €.

When you make your reservation click on include medical certificate and we will send you, within 48 hours, a voucher to redeem it, from Monday to Friday, to the health center with offices in: Sants, Badalona, Horta i L’Hospitalet.

Requisits

– DNI, NIE or Passport, in force.
– To be older than 16 years old (with authorization).
– Nautical medical certificate.

Recommendations

– The day of the practice check the weather report and come with appropriate comfortable clothing.
– Do not forget sunscreen and a bottle of water.
– Be punctual, if you have never come to Port Olímpic, we explain you how to get there.
– If you are a group of 5 or more, call us and we will schedule a course for you on the date you prefer.
– When you go sailing don’t forget to bring your license with you.

Issuance of the LN license

– When you buy online (or in person) confirm that your details correspond with those of your ID, this information is what we will use to issue your license.

– If at the end of the course (theory + practices) we have your medical certificate (e-mail), in approximately 15 days we will issue your Navigation License.

– Once your license is issued you will receive an e-mail to come to the school to pick it up.

– Your Navigation License does not expire. It is a sheet of stamped paper of which, in case of loss or damage, you can request a duplicate at the school by paying the corresponding fees.
